Our general managers contributing its expertise to the conference and the new EFA advisory board

Our two general managers, Christian Droll und Dennis Droll, attended the conference and general meeting of the European Fireplace Association (EFA) in Leipzig on 24 April 2026. They took part in the well-attended event, which focused entirely on the strategic reorganisation of the trade association.

At the general meeting, the EFA unveiled a restricted management team designed to address growing technical, regulatory and political challenges. At the heart of this reorganisation is a clearer division of responsibilities and a stronger focus on the association’s technical and organisational aspects. Andreas Schönfeld was named as the new chairman of the board.

Our general mnager, Christian Droll, has been appointed to the newly established advisory board of the EFA. In this role, he will contribute his many years of professional and technical expertise to the association’s work and will support the board, particularly on substantive and practical issues. This appointment underscored the active role we play within the European industry network.

Our other general manager, Dennis Droll, also played an active role in the symposium, contributing to the discussions with expert insights. The focus was on, amongst other things, current developments in the regulation and building law, air quality issues, and the political framewok at European level.

By voting unanimously in favour of the new organisational structure, the general meeting sent a clear signal of unity. We see this as an important foundation for continuing to help shape the challenges facing the industry in a way that is fact-based, practical and forward-looking.

RRF takes over ChimneyLab testing facility and expands testing capacity

We are pleased to announce that RRF will take over the testing facility from the Danish ChimneyLab. This will allow us to expand our professional and technical capacities in the field of metal exhaust systems and connectors, which is an important step towards strengthening the availability of qualified testing facilities in Germany in the long term.

We are particularly interested in continuing Finn Petersen’s legacy. Over many years, he made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of tests in the field of exhaust systems and connectors, acquiring outstanding expertise throughout Europe. Finn Petersen previously worked at the DTI (Danish Technological Institute), later became self-employed and carried out numerous tests in his own laboratories. In addition, he has been heavily involved in national and international standardisation processes.

We are pleased that Finn Petersen will continue to be available to us as a consultant in the future.

The partnership between RRF and Finn Petersen began more than ten years ago. During this time, we have regularly exchanged technical information and worked together to develop testing and certification processes. Initial considerations regarding a merger of laboratory capacities were already underway before the coronavirus pandemic. However, the circumstances at the time meant that the project had to be postponed. We are even more pleased that we are now able to carry out this project together.

A key factor behind the collaboration is the clear need in Germany for laboratories that focus on testing emission reduction technologies, electronic separators and modern filter technologies. With the test facility we have acquired, we will be able to close this gap much more effectively in the future.

The new testing facility premises are currently being added at our location in Drolshagen. The move is planned for the middle of the year. From the second half of the year onwards, we will therefore be able to offer you expanded testing capacities and additional services.

In the future, our services will include:

  • Inspections of metal chimneys, exhaust systems and connecting pieces in accordance with e.g. EN 1856-1 and EN 1856-2 as well as EN 13216
  • Tests of dust separators, catalytic converters and filter systems

We are looking forward to welcoming you soon to our new testing facility and offering you an even wider range of testing services!
